First Work!

The Beginning & Many Firsts

December 1990, Beri launched her fashion brand in India. 1992, Forayed into the international market, after a successful venture with Liberty, Regent Street, London. 1997 Launched 'Ritu Beri Fashion Fraternity' (RBFF), a platform for young Indian designers. This was India's First Fashion Week. First Indian Designer to be featured in PROMOSTYL's Acuastyl, a prestigious forecast magazine for global fashion trends. First Indian Designer to go international.

Year 1990 to 1997

The Big League

1998, Ritu Beri was the First Indian designer to associate & collaborate with D. SWAROVSKI. 1999-Ritu Beri was the First Indian designer to present her collection at the Paris Fashion Week. 2000, Flagged off the first fashion week in India, 'Lakme India Fashion Week', in New Delhi. Launched a ready-to-wear collection and her brand in Paris. First Indian designer to associate & collaborate with FTV (Fashion TV) & then launch it in India. 2000, Ritu Beri was the First Indian designer to associate & collaborate with L’OREAL Paris & also the first Indian designer who was invited to the Cannes Film Festival in 2001.

The Big Name

2001, First Asian to head a French fashion brand, Scherrer. 2002- Ritu Beri was the first Indian to be Featured in the TIME magazine as “one of the people to watch out for in international business. 2009, Launched The Blessed Hearts Foundation, a charity for children and became the First Indian designer to launch a Kids line, 'Baby Beri'. 2010, Recipient of the prestigious French Award ‘Chevaliere des Arts et des lettres’.

Year 2001 to 2010

The Big Fame

2013, Recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in fashion by The Rai University. 2014, Recipient of the prestigious ‘Spanish Award - Order of Civil Merit’. 2015, launched The Luxury League, a Not-for-Profit Foundation to promote the treasures of India, and brand India globally. 2016, Appointed Advisor to Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Govt. of India.

Year 2011 to 2016

The Big Reach

2019, Appointed the Culture and Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan in India by the Ministry of Tourism of Uzbekistan. Announced the Advisor to the Surajkund Mela, world's largest craft fair with over a million visitors a year. Appointed Chief Design Consultant for TRIFED-TRIBES INDIA, TRIBES India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt of India. 2020, A Postal Stamp has been issued to honor "Ritu Beri's work under the series of Indian Fashion by the Government of India

The Big Legacy

Her inspiration comes from travels to faraway places, combined with an innate sense of style. Today, Ritu Beri still remains an icon of modern Indian fashion in the international market. Ritu Beri championed the careers of many rising Indian designers.

Setting Trends Since 1990

Rise of "The First Lady of Fashion"

She  launched her label in India in the year 1990, progressing to show her collection on the ramp, in Paris in the year 1998. She was the first Indian to feature in the Promostyl magazine, which forecasts fashion trends. The Time magazine named her among the people to watch out for in international business. She has traveled across the world and drawn accolades for her creativity and styling.

A Designer beyond Shows and Labels

“She has been climbing up the ladder of success, but her fashion career wasn’t confined to mere fashion shows. She has been appointed as the Advisor to Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Govt. of India in 2016. She has also been appointed as the brand ambassador for TRIFED-TRIBES INDIA by the Government of India in 2019. So much so that the Government of India issued a postal stamp to honor Ritu Beri’s work under the series of Indian Fashion in 2020.”
